For some inexplicable reason, humans are drawn towards the ocean even though there are a lot of things in there that can bite us and can make life a little unpleasant for us. However, we continue to take every opportunity that we can to visit the ocean and if there is a bank holiday weekend coming up, we make immediate plans to load up the kids and the dog and head off to the local beach. There are so many different things that you can do in the water and underneath the water is even more exciting. It allows those of us who are not strong swimmers to still enjoy everything that the ocean has to offer but without having to put our heads under the water completely.
I am of course talking about snorkeling and it is a fantastic activity that many people enjoy when they want to stay healthy and fit. You will of course need essential equipment like a snorkel mask that will protect your eyes from the salty water but also allow you to see quite clearly under the water as well. It is an essential piece of equipment if you are to have a firm appreciation of what goes on under the waves. An activity such as this is a fantastic pastime when it comes to your general health and the following are some of the benefits of doing it.
- It improves your breathing – Any fitness expert will tell you that the more oxygen that you can take into your lungs is a good sign of your rulebook fitness levels. When you are using your smart home task, you will be breathing through a tube that is going to involve a significant amount of resistance and so it will require you to try harder when compared to just breathing normally. It is an excellent breathing exercise that will teach you to breathe in and out evenly through your mouth when you are continually exercising outside.
- Better overall fitness – When you go snorkeling, you are using all the parts of your body and so this will help you to get fitter quickly and to trim down your body as well. Just going for a simple snorkeling expedition means that you’re going to be using all the muscles in your legs including your hamstrings, your calves, and your core and shoulders as well. It helps you to build excellent strength and endurance and all of this helps to reduce your stress levels which your doctor has told you that you need to do anyway. The other wonderful thing is that this enjoyable pastime burns quite a lot of calories and it amounts to about 300 an hour.
This is a pastime that is incredibly good for heart health and as you get older, this might be a pastime that you might consider starting. It will help to decrease your chances of getting heart disease, experiencing high cholesterol and high blood pressure as well. It will help to build your overall lung capacity because when you scuba, you are holding your breath for longer periods of time.
